South Africa was still a segregated country and Mozambique was just on the verge of their civil war. It covers the tranquility of the Caribbean Islands and sailing through the inland waterways of North America before the onslaught of tourism.

I have read this twice now. Each time I am amazed at these young people that dared to dream and made it a reality. It is so inspirational and should be a TV movie. I loved it!
If you like true adventure you will love this book. Oprah is right, if you believe it, it can happen! These people did the impossible!

After reading this book I have found myself thinking about it as though I had experienced it myself. I feel like I had been a part of the crew. And what a world it must have been only a few decades ago. It was a little sad to think that those beautiful island coves that were, are likely hotels and resorts today. A must read!!!
Knew John and Barbara when I lived on St Thomas in Frenchtown at Avery's Boathouse. Wonderful to walk down Memory Lane.
