This was exactly what I needed to get started with my 10 month old miracle mutt, Norbert, on the SUP. Between this book and the help of friends (including my dog trainer), Norbert found his sea legs on just his third time out! It definitely helped to do the work at home before getting him on the water. Also, he loves to swim so I learned to just let him go and paddle along until he was ready to hop on (easy to do with a good PFD that has a handle on top). Once he got that out of his system, he settled in nicely. It was definitely a core workout with him moving around (for both of us), but he will only get better in time.Product details

Can't wait to get my pup out SUPing! Great book with good ideas!
Bought the book because I want to Sup with my Pup but want it to be a good experience for me and the fur baby. It had great ideas and tips that I would never have thought about.
This is an excellent book for those looking to learn the basics of SUPing or even learn how to adapt their furry friend to the SUP board. I've been standup paddling with my dog for a couple years, but learned a lot of new information from this book. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to SUP with their pup!
I read through it once quickly, intended to read it more thoroughly when I came home again... my dog had other plans and I found it in bits. But I did get some great ideas from it and am hopeful she will get on the water at some point... )
Gives you all you need to start paddling with your dog. Provides additional information for first aid and other resources. I did not think an inflatable board would work and had been struggling in trying to figure out how to pack a large board in my car. I now have a whole new perspective and can't wait to buy my first board! Thank you!
Full disclosure I have had the privilege of paddling with the duo in this book on many occasions and was eager to see the result of all of Maria's hard work. Well done! It is clear, concise, well laid out with fun and inspiring photography. The book is chock full of good paddling information as well as step by step training guides to get your dog on-board for paddling.
I love the sport and this book is great for getting your canine companion out enjoying the water with you. I recommend it without reservation.
This was a very helpful book. I've developed an interest in stand-up paddle boarding as something I can do on the water with my dogs. This book provides the right level of instruction in terms of how to acclimate one's dog with the board, first off the water and then on. I found the section on what to consider when purchasing a board invaluable. That particular topic has been a barrier to my jumping right in. Most importantly, through both text and pictures, the book demonstrates that paddle boarding with one's dog is completely doable and accessible for anyone with a desire and interest in doing so. The length of the book only helps to reinforce that notion.
